Things to do in Singapore - Visit the Singapore Zoo

If you are an animal lover, visit the Singapore zoo, there is an incredible range of animals from A to Z. If you are not an animal lover, visit the Singapore Zoo so that the animals can have new human samples to view. By the way Z is for zebra (not J) and zebra is not French undergarment.

This zoo is considered world class by most tourists. I am sure there are reasons for that but most Singaporeans only visit the zoo three times in their lifetime. The first time is when they are in K1 or maybe Primary school where the poor school teacher had to lug 40 of you to the zoo. The second time is when they grow up and get a girlfriend and have ran out of ideas on where to go. Then the third time is when they have a kid of their own and then they try to pump the kid with more general knowledge, and so the Singapore Zoo seem to be the next logical venue of learning. Inevitably the Singapore Zoological garden has become part of the Singaporean life cycle.

But seriously, the Singapore zoo is a fun place to visit. It is big and green and beautifully landscaped. You will enjoy some of the walk-through exhibits where you could be right next to animals. There is a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes and maybe an umbrella. The umbrella is good for the sun and the rain because these days the weather in Singapore is so unpredictable. You may also want to consider applying insect repellent before going. Just make sure you don’t overdo it or the journey in the bus to the zoo will be very painful for the other commuters.

To get to the Singapore Zoo take a bus or a taxi. Sorry tourists, the zoo does not provide camel or elephant shuttle rides from Orchard Road to Mandai Road.
